Programa de Pós-Graduação em Engenharia de Processos e Tecnologia

Graduate Program in Process and Technologies Engineering

The Graduate Program in Processes and Technologies Engineering (PGEPROTEC) is inserted in the engineering area of CAPES (Higher Education Personnel Improvement Coordination) - Engineerings II. Its area of concentration is the Development of Processes and Industrial Products and it is structured in two Lines of Research:

his line of research focuses on the development of processes using biomass and waste to obtain energy and processes for the development of studies aimed at preserving the environment, including the reuse of industrial waste; treatment of urban and industrial effluents, control and remediation of pollution in soil, water and atmosphere. Projects associated with this line of research operate in energy generation, obtaining products via pyrolysis, reuse of urban and industrial waste, waste treatment, treatment of liquid and gaseous effluents, biological treatment of various wastes, adding value to waste and from a perspective of seeking sustainability in all its aspects, through new approaches and strategies for development.

This line of research proposes the development, modernization and optimization of physical processes, chemical processes and products, within the principles of sustainability, the use of clean technologies and the search for the use of raw materials from renewable sources. This line works with the development of processes for obtaining and applying membranes for different uses, the development of polymers, mixtures, composites and transformation processes, also making use of nanotechnology, surface treatment, obtaining magnetic materials and sensors, and obtaining biomaterials.

With the implementation of the Academic Master's in Process and Technologies Engineering, the Program began its activities in November 2010 and, in December 2018, CAPES approved the Doctorate in Process and Technologies Engineering, which began its activities in August 2019, to improve the training of professionals for the development of innovative technologies, less polluting products and processes, generating knowledge in basic and applied research, which may contribute to the technological independence of the country.

Objectives

  • Improve the training of Professionals by enabling them to understand and develop innovative technologies, less polluting products and processes.
  • Train graduates who are able to carry out interdisciplinary actions, emphasizing sustainability in related areas of knowledge.
  • Create proactive and independent researchers, capable of carrying out activities of an unprecedented nature and with intellectual, social and economic relevance.
  • Foster high-quality national research that can meet the demands of latent technologies.

Target audience

Professionals graduated in Engineering and Technology and courses in related areas.

Egress Profile

Egresses of the Graduate Program in Processes and Technologies should have the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to act in a creative, efficient and enterprising way in industrial and academic activities, in the sectors of design, research, development, consulting and planning in the area of products and processes, always observing the use of clean technologies, recycling and reuse of materials, minimizing the use of raw materials and
